- John married Eula Killian on bond of Absalom Duncan in Lincoln County, North Carolina. He later moved his family to Indiana in the 1820's. Around 1830 later they moved to Macoupin County, Illinois, where they were among the first early settlers. John engaged in farming until his death. He and Eula had a total of 12 children, eight of whom were still living in the late 1880's. John and Eula were ardent members of the Methodist Episcopal Church.
