Carroll, Arkansas, USA |

Notes |
- Martin had many adventures as a herdsman of cattle and horses. He was gone from home for long lengths of time, beginning at age 16. During his trails a boy playing with a gun accidentally discharged his weapon, hitting Martin in the arm. They had to amputate his arm without pain killer or whiskey. Despite the loss of his arm, he still managed to continue herding for Kit Carson and was drafted into the Union Army where he served with the cavalry. He held the reins in his teeth while firing his rifle single handedly. He was known as an accomplished equestrian and of above average intelligence. While traveling home on furlough from the war, he was attacked by Bushwhackers and killed. His body was never found. He never married.
