  Notes	He spent most of his early life around Circleville, Pickaway County, until the Civil War broke out. "In 1861, he joined the army and served the Co. B.,114th O.V.I. serving his country four years. At the beginning of the 3rd year, he was severely wounded and sent to the hospital. After recovering sufficiently, he was furloughed for 60 days, after which he reported for duty and was made transport guard over prisoners by stagecoach from Chillocothe to Columbus. He was a member of Scott Post No. 100 G.A.R."
